Fair Work First Statement
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum Trust is committed to delivering better recruitment and employment practices aligned with the Scottish Government’s guidance on the “Fair Work First” programme.
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum Trust supports Fair Work First by adopting high standards and fair working practices.
The Fair Work First programme gives individuals an effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment, and respect.
We aim to provide a positive working environment with high-quality and engaging work where our museum workforce (paid staff and volunteers) feel they belong and can thrive. We care about their safety, health, and wellbeing and seek to maximise their talent and skills.
We require all our people to read in full our equality and diversity policies and sign that they will adhere to them.
We have no inappropriate use of zero-hours contracts, with almost all our people securely engaged on terms stating regular weekly working hours. Trade unions are also recognised for the paid staff within the museum workforce. We will also not exploit our volunteer team. The museum has a volunteer policy, and this includes factors such as reasonable reimbursement, avenues through which they can have an effective voice, and how they can contact and meet with the museum’s paid team.
With all the museum workforce, investment in their development will be fostered, and they can approach museum management to ask more about this.
The Museum Trust is vehemently opposed to fire and rehire practices.
We have a diverse and inclusive workplace and an organisational culture that promotes diversity and inclusion.
We are an accredited Living Wage employer, paying at least the Scottish Living Wage to all employees and workers. We offer progressive and flexible family-friendly working practices for all our people to support diversity and inclusion and to enable the balancing of work-life needs with personal needs.
Our Fair Work First statement remains under review and is open to further improvement and consultation in the future.
